Website and Branding
Game Design Initiative at Cornell
In Spring 2020 as I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Game Design, I took on an additional assignment to redesign and implement a new site for the game design department at Cornell. In order to support the course’s recent digital instruction transition and modernize the existing site, I created a new brand identity for the organization as well as desktop, tablet, and mobile screen mockups.
First Iterations: Home Screen and Branding
I would say the most important branding goal for this site was for people to see it and think “I haven’t seen something like this before.”
I knew from the start that animation and movement in the site would be key to include in the first page. I went for clean, futuristic, and simple to represent the program’s interdisciplinary focus in both engineering and art.\
The helvetica neue font and simple shapes draw heavy inspiration in current minimalistic graphic design trends.
In these first few screens, a big challenge was finding a way to include banner images of featured games in a way that was not clunky and slideshow-like, while fitting the new branding.
In the first screen, the images swim across the screen like fish.
In the second screen, the images and bars would fluctuate slightly in size, similar to audio waves.

Final Screens
Once these screens were finalized, I collaborated with a few others to implement the site using HTML, CSS and Javascript.
